Anyway, something I neglected to mention in my post last night is that much of Buffalo’s East Side (where the shooting happened) is a food desert. This Tops was the main grocery store in this particular district (there are mini marts in this particular area but not another big grocery store). And if you don’t have a car, it’s not always easy to get to places in Buffalo even with public transportation so trying to get to the main grocery store in your area can be difficult for some people to begin with - and now it’s probably going to be closed for a bit due to what happened.
If you feel inclined to donate, you can donate to Buffalo Community Fridge. They have a Venmo: bflocommunityfridge. Also, Buffalo Community Fridge has a Target Registry so you can purchase and give items directly. There are three different ‘community fridges’ located throughout Buffalo to help address food insecurity including one on the East Side. It’s a place where people can drop off food and anyone can take food at any time - it’s open 24/7. Here is a link to their website and to their Instagram. You can read more about how the community fridge project got started and see pictures at Buffalo Rising.
Additionally, a local mosque (confirmed- Jami Masjid) is also raising funds for the families of the victims. Here is a link to their fundraiser.
